Bishop's Annual Appeal 2014

Bishop’s Appeal Message

Appeal Message from Bishop Bootkoski

In his first encyclical, “Lumen Fidei” (“The Light of Faith”), Pope Francis tells us, “Faith, received from God as a supernatural gift, becomes a light for our way, guiding our journey through time” (no. 4).  The powerful encyclical, begun by Pope Benedict XVI, examines the unique role of faith which is “capable of illuminating every aspect of human existence” (no. 4).

Thanks to your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal, our faith touches the lives of thousands of people in the four counties of the Diocese of Metuchen.  It is your generous support that supplies basic material needs to those less fortunate and solace for those suffering in mind, body or spirit.  Your gift impacts our families, especially the young, and also provides training for deacons and priests so our faith may endure for future generations.

As Pope Francis writes, “Faith is no refuge for the fainthearted, but something which enhances our lives” (no. 53).  It is your courage and commitment that allows our diocesan ministries to flourish.  Without your gifts of time, treasure and financial resouces, the light of faith in our diocese would not shine as brightly.

I invite you to put your faith into action once more by joining me in making a sacrificial gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal.  Together we can make a life-changing difference in the lives of so many.

With prayerful best wishes, I am

Gratefully in the Lord,

Most Rev. Paul G. Bootkoski, DD

Bishop of Metuchen
